HOW IT WORKS

Everything you need to know about Coachly — from generating a plan to bringing it to the pitch.

WHAT IS COACHLY?

Coachly is an AI-powered session planner built specifically for GAA youth coaches. Tell it your age group, pitch, available equipment, and what skill you want to focus on — and it builds you a complete, structured training session in seconds. No templates, no copy-pasting drills from a spreadsheet. Just a plan that fits your group, ready to print and run.

GENERATING A SESSION

01

Fill in your details

The form takes about 30 seconds. Set your age group (U6–U12), code (football or hurling), session length (30, 45, or 60 minutes), number of players, and how many coaches or helpers you have.

02

Set your constraints

Tell Coachly about your pitch size, available equipment (cones, bibs, goals, etc.), weather conditions, and the skill focus for the session. Football skills include catching, handpass, kicking, soloing, shooting, 1v1, and decision-making. Hurling skills include catching, lifting, striking, shooting, blocking, 1v1, and decision-making. Or keep it balanced across all skills.

03

Choose your format

Pick stations (players rotate between drill areas) or whole group (all players together). Toggle whether to include a warm-up, cool-down, Go Games finish, and an optional fitness block.

04

Get your plan

Hit Generate. The AI builds your session, typically within 20-40 seconds. The whole journey from landing on the site to having a ready plan usually takes under a minute.

WHAT'S IN A PLAN

Every session is fully structured and includes everything you need to run it without any extra preparation.

Warm-up block

An age-appropriate activation game to get players moving and focused.

3 core blocks

By default 3 skill blocks, or 2 skill + 1 fitness when enabled.

Go Games

A small-sided game at the end so players can apply what they practised.

Cool-down

A wind-down activity suitable for the age group.

Coaching cues

Short, positive verbal prompts you can call out during each drill.

Progressions

An easier and a harder version of every drill, so you can adapt on the fly.

Equipment list

Exactly what to bring before leaving home — no guessing.

Safety notes

Key reminders for coaching children, specific to the session.

WORKING WITH YOUR PLAN

Editing a block

Not happy with a drill? Each block has an Edit menu with Swap Drill, Simplify, Make Harder, and Add Note. These actions update only that block and keep the rest of the session unchanged.

Sharing a plan

Every plan has a shareable link. Use it to send your session to a co-coach or assistant before training. The link works without an account — just open it and the plan is there. Shared plans are read-only (the recipient can't edit them).

Exporting to PDF

Export a clean A4 PDF to bring to the pitch. The PDF includes all blocks, timing, coaching cues, equipment list, and safety notes in a print-ready layout. You get 1 free PDF export after your first generated plan. Extra downloads are included with the Club Pack (see Free vs Club Pack below), and Club Pack downloads never expire.

How long plans are saved

Plans have an expiry date shown in My Plans. Most plans are stored for 30 days. Export the PDF before expiry if you want a permanent copy.

DO I NEED AN ACCOUNT?

No. Coachly doesn't require you to sign up or create a password. When you first use the site, a secure token is saved in your browser (for example, when you generate your first plan) so your plans are linked to your device. As long as you use the same browser, your plans appear in My Plans automatically. If you clear your cookies or switch browsers, that link is lost — so export any plans you want to keep permanently.
